This is such an interesting topic… how will technology impact education, beyond the tool perspective? We see so many industries innovating their products and services with the development of new technology. Even hospitals are jumping on board the tech train, but I wonder how the education system will keep up or if they will even try to… G+ pages for classes, campus clubs, student body campaigns, and more? Classes taught in Hangouts? Points awarded for excellent faculty and student performance redeemable for prizes at edu offer sites? Google Wallet for healthy vending machines? (Of course my ideas are skewed towards Google products haha ;P )

Students Want Social Media in Schools

In its Policy Priorities report, Can Social Media and School Policies be “Friends,” ASCD provides a state-of-the union on social media use in schools. How  administrators and educators deal with federal regulations, defining  what’s legal, parsing out school responsibilities and weighing them  against the benefits of using social media to engage and communicate  with students are all addressed in this useful guide. MindShift’s Dispelling Myths About Blocked Sites is also in the lineup.
